Sylvester Stallone’s son—Sage—dead at 36

UPDATE: More details about Sage Stallone’s sudden death have surfaced. His mother, Sasha, called the housekeeper to check on him after friends were unable to reach Sage for 3-4 days. He was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Friday. Sources say there were also empty prescription pill bottles in the area where his body was found, but there was no suicide note. Sage’s passing is said to be a shock to all those who knew him and the even bigger shock is the likely possibility of an overdose.

Sage Stallone, Sylvester Stallone‘s son, has died and TMZ‘s source said the cause was an overdose of pills.

He was found in his L.A. apartment and paramedics were called. The exact details are still being gathered, but sources say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are trying to determine if the death was intentional or accidental.

Sly’s rep, Michelle Bega, said, “Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone.  His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha.  Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man.  His loss will be felt forever.”

Sage’s mom, Sasha Ash, was Sylvester Stallone’s first wife.

Sage was the co-founder of Grindhouse Releasing [us], a Los Angeles based company, dedicated to the restoration and preservation of quality exploitation feature films. Friend Quentin Tarantino used Stallone’s trademark Grindhouse Releasing feature presentation logo before the opening credits of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Grindhouse (2007).

Although Sage made his film debut alongside his dad in Rocky 5 (1990), playing Rocky’s son Robert; he infamously turned down the same role in Rocky Balboa (2006) due to prior obligations with Grindhouse Releasing.

In addition to his grieve stricken parents, Sage leaves behind one full brother, Seargeoh Stallone; three half-sisters: Sophia Rose Stallone, Sistine Rose Stallone and Scarlet Rose Stallone; one stepmother, Jennifer Flavin, and one ex-stepmother, Brigitte Nielsen.
