Snoop Dogg’s a ‘Reincarnated’ Rastafarian named SNOOP LION (AUDIO)

Could Reggae become cool again?  Like really cool, not just a pool side playlist? If there’s one guy who could do it… it’s Snoop! Especially seeing as his new alter-ego—Snoop Lion—already has thousands of Facebook friends!

Snoop Dogg Lion’s new single ‘La La La’ is making huge strides in bringing back the depth and soul of Reggae  music, made legendary by Bob Marley; and since made kinda cheesy, thanks to Carnival Cruises.

‘La La La’ and Snoop’s upcoming album Reincarnated are said to be inspired by his Jamaica vacay. He had some kind of Dave Chappell-A-HA moment and formed a special bond with the Island. You see, for Rastafarians, smoking the ’ganja’ (from the Sanskrit word Ganjika), is a spiritual act, often accompanied by Bible study. Genesis 3:18 “… thou shalt eat the herb of the field.”

Hmm. Okay, we can see how Snoop and the Rastas could have interpreted this how they did, but couldn’t Genesis just have meant…cilantro…or…basil? Both are bursting with flavor and Bible-worthy.

What other changes can we expect from Snoop Lion? For starters, we’d bet he’s got the beginning of dreads under that Rastafarian hat. Rastas maintain that dreadlocks are supported by 21:5 “They shall not make baldness upon their head…” and 6:5 “…there shall no razor come upon his head…” The locks symbolize the Lion of Judah (its mane) and rebellion against Babylon.

Do you think Snoop knows all of this? Or was he sold after hearing: ganga = spiritual?

it’s abundantly clear that you know nothing about reggae as evidenced by your statement that snoop is bringing back depth and soul to the genre. you’re an intellectual midget if you think snoop is going to make reggae cool. it has always been cool and i would bet it’s your profound lack of familiarity with the music that leads you to think otherwise.
