Marvel Studios announces release date for “The Avengers 2″—hurry up & wait!

Hopefully the man of iron’s ankle of glass will mend quickly, because Marvel needs to finish filming all of the standalone films—like Iron Man 3—before it can start production on its SUPER HERO ENSEMBLE EXTRAVAGANZA!

Marvel just announced that the sequel to a little film called The Avengers (you may remember the first one…it was the biggest Super Hero blockbuster ever and third highest grossing film of all time) is slated to hit theatres May 1, 2015.

Joss Whedon returns to write and direct.  The sequel presumably will reunite Downey with Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.

Let the waiting begin!
