Weekend Box Office: Taken again by “Taken 2″

Taken 2 takes the box office 2 weekends in a row! Argo, also a movie about kidnapping, came in second place during its premiere weekend. Apparently people would rather watch a movie about a fake kidnapping than a real one.

Sinister came in third place and earned $18 million, which is Ethan Hawke’s biggest pay day since…? His divorce from Uma Thurman? Nope, since Training Day in 2001.

Hotel Transylvania had little to no occupancy this weekend; the film racked up another $17 million, in its third weekend out. Here Comes the Boom was more like a ‘thud’ though…it was Kevin James’ lowest film opening ever—earning $12 million.

1-  Take 2 took in $22 million ($86 million total in its first 2 weeks).

2-  Argo* brought home $20 million in its debut weekend.
