Weekend Box Office: Paranormal #4 levitates on screen, but drops in the box office
Written by Russ Francis+

Film Flops take two different forms this weekend. Paranormal Activity #4 took in $30 million against a $5 million budget; while Alex Cross cost $23 mill, but only made $11 mill.
Here’s the thing, P.A. #2 and P.A. #3 debuted to the tune of $40 mill and $52 mill, respectively, so that’s how a $30 mill payday for P.A. #4 could possibly be considered a ‘flop.’ It’s pretty obvious that Alex Cross is a big fat belly flop—but STILL—isn’t it just nice to see Tyler Perry acting in something other than his own films? (Not that we plan to see this one or anything.)
Argo held on strong—taking the second place spot and $16 mill. Hotel Transylvania also held on well—No.3 with $13 mill. That helped to move it back into third place ahead of Taken 2, which dropped from first place last week to fourth place this weekend.
Below are the Top 5 box office performers this weekend:
1- Paranormal Activity 4* scared in $30 million during its premiere weekend.
2- Argo brought home another $16 million ($43 million total in its first 2-weekends).
3- Hotel Transylvania made $13 million ($119 million for its 4-week total).
4- Take 2 earned $13 million this weekend ($105 million during its first 3-weeks).
5- Alex Cross* made a measly $11 million during its debut weekend.
