Jay-Z confronted by Robert De Niro!

Written by +

Looks like Jay-Z met his match in Robert De Niro! According to Page Six, a tense interaction between the two men, was “the talk” of Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday bash last weekend.

A witness recounts, “Bob was sitting at a table, and when Jay-Z went over to say hello, De Niro told Jay that he never called him back.”

Dang! Called out by Bob De Niro! So, what did Jay do? Naturally, he tried to joke his way out of it—saying he’s terrible on the phone, but Bob wasn’t about to let Jay off the hook that easy. You talkin’ to me? “De Niro kept telling him (Jay) that he thinks he’s the man, but that he was disrespectful.” You talkin’ to me?

Actually, De Niro didn’t care who was talking to who, it was about principles. He reprimanded Jay saying, “if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.”

“Beyoncé came over, but that didn’t calm Bob down,” a source said.

Bobby D supposedly gave Jay this phone etiquette lesson in front of a bunch of celebs—including Martin Scorsese. The unreturned calls were about a song Jay promised to record for the Tribeca Film Festival, but flaked on. Both men are Tribeca residents.

Ironically, Jay-Z paid homage to Bobby D in the second line of his hit “Empire State of Mind.” (“Yea I’m out that Brooklyn, now I’m down in Tribeca/Right next to De Niro, but I’ll be hood forever.”)

Maybe being ‘hood forever’ involves not returning calls?
