Weekend Box Office: Is ALL about “Breaking Dawn 2″

Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 banks $141 million! That is very impressive, but is that a BIG enough opening to allow Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to finally break up for real? Can she go back to making out with married men in her MINI Cooper? Can he go back to moping around in a backwards baseball cap and binge drinking?

$141 million is great, but it’s about a mill short of Twilight’s #1 grossing debut—New Moon—so they’ll probably need to drag their ‘made for movie promotion’ relationship out a bit longer.

1-  Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2* breaks $141 million in its debut weekend.

2-  Skyfall banks $41 million ($161 million total during its first 2-weeks).

3-  Lincoln earns an honest $21 million during it first weekend in wide release. It was only available in a few select theaters last weekend.

4-  Wreck-It Ralph crashes in another $18 million ($121 million during its 3-weeks in theaters).

5-  Flight lands in the top 5 again this weekend, earning $8 million ($61 million total during its 3-week run).
