Weekend Movies: Ticket or Skip it?

Besides ZERO DARK THIRTY, which is an obvious TICKET, there are 3 other movies opening this weekend, which look pretty cool.
A HAUNTED HOUSE: This is the Marlon Wayans Paranormal Activity parody and if they didn’t giveaway all the good parts in the trailer, than this movie looks EPIC. What could be better than a possessed wife screaming bloody murder into a detective’s face, only for him to in turn spray her open mouth with Binaca? TICKET
GANGSTER SQUAD: A crime film starring Sean Pean as the Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen who now runs the show in L.A. It also stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, which is confusing…didn’t they already do a movie together where they had sex and a bunch of witty banter? Yep, it was called Crazy Stupid Love. In this film, Emma Stone plays a sexy ‘Jessica Rabbit-type; although she comes across more…Jessica Easter Bunny. Josh Brolin also stars, he plays Sergeant O’Mara…a cop…which is ironic since he just got arrested on New Year’s Eve for public intoxication. Santa Monica Police decided not to press charges and now we see why. Nevertheless, this film looks tremendous. I’d say TICKET, if not just for Ryan Gosling alone…oh and Sean Penn’s big fake mob nose.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING: After being struck and killed by lightning, Glee‘s Chris Colfer (who also wrote the movie) recounts how he blackmailed fellow classmates into contributing their personal stories to his magazine. This looks interesting and I already learned something. As it turns out, just because you write someone else’s story in your own hand writing, that doesn’t mean you wrote it. There’s probably more to learn from this film too, plus there’s a little something extra for the guys—Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks plays a step-MILF. This would make a great rental! SKIP IT
