Now they are seeing the error of their ways and might be giving Jennifer Lopez the fat paycheck that she was asking for all along. She was making $15mil and asked to be bumped up to $17 million. They rejected that but then turned around and paid Mariah $18mil. I guess they thought that she would be a bigger deal than J.Lo but she ended up being just an overpaid diva that bickered with Nicki.
Idol thought about doing a big switch up mid-season. They considered trading out Mariah for J.Lo but had to halt those plans once Mariah heard the rumors and threatened to sue.
Well maybe they are going back to the original plan of bringing back J.Lo to save the show. She had a top secret meeting with Ryan Seacrest on Friday. They met up at an office building in Beverly Hills and didn’t seem too happy that they were spotted together.
Everyone is assuming that they were discussing her return to American Idol.
Now there are also rumors that they are thinking about bringing back former contestants. Carrie Underwood admitted that she was never invited to be a judge (Whaaatttt? She would have been my first call! Maybe that’s why Nigel was canned) but it’s rumored that Jennifer Hudson is on the verge of signing her Idol deal.

American Idol is taking some hits after this season’s exceptionally low ratings. They already canned all of this season’s judges. Well, Keith Urban is still hanging on for now but he is sure to go.
And now, they are cutting back on the American Idol tour.
Normally, the top ten contestants go on a summer tour after the show but they had to decrease the number of stops on this tour. Instead of embarking on the normal 40 venue tour, they are only making 30 stops this year.
An Idol spokesperson released a statement saying, “Due to production scheduling changes, the American Idol 2013 Tour will now begin on July 19th and go through the summer until August 31st. The Idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country.”
So not only are the ratings suffering, the ticket sales are too.
Is this the beginning of the end for Idol? It’s not like we need it anymore, thanks to the still exciting Voice. I say just cut your losses now!

Almost everybody has “quit” American Idol… but there is one lone survivor as of now.
Ok we know that they were all given the boot due to record low ratings but let’s just go with what they are saying.. They all quit.
Randy Jackson was the first one to politely quit the Idol gig after 12 seasons.
Then yesterday, the diva Mariah Carey retweeted a statement from her publicist, saying that she would not be returning for another season. I think she wanted to give the announcement before Fox could.. No one fires the diva!
The tweet said, “W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.”
Fox later released a gushing statement, praising her for her wisdom and experience and said that she will always remain an “inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come.”
Next up to quit the show was Nicki Minaj. She tweeted, “Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!”
Fox then thanked her for her “level of honesty and passion” that she brought to Idol and said that they understand her decision. They left out the “thank you for not killing Mariah Carey” part though.
So the only one who remains is Keith Urban… but he’s expected to get the Idol send off too. Rumor is they are gunning for ex Idol contestants like Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, maybe Adam Lambert. And they would probably like to throw Jennifer Lopez somewhere in the mix if they could afford her.

The Voice made a promise to their original judges. They said that they can take time off from the show when needed but they will always have a chair to return to.
They are giving Christina Aguilera a huge pay bump to return, just signed Cee-Lo Green’s contract, and Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are returning next season too. They are going back to the original team of judges.
But what about Usher and Shakira? They knew they were temporary judges but they did such a great job on the show.
According to sources, Christina and Cee-Lo are just coming back for one more season, then they are taking off another season next spring. The show is already in negotiations to bring Usher and Shakira back as fill-ins again.
And if anybody is still worried about American Idol, the judge that was named the ‘Best Idol Judge of all Time’ is interested in coming back.
Keith Urban said that he would like to come back to the show because he, quote, “literally enjoy coming to work every day, and that’s a rarity.”
As of now, the rumor is that none of the Idol judges will be returning.

No one of the judges are safe on American Idol. Thanks to the record setting low ratings, everyone is getting FIRED!
It was announced last week that Randy Jackson is quitting Idol after 12 years but likely, they were just in a good position to fire him this year. They tried to get rid of the dawg last year but he managed to squeeze another season and paycheck out of them, likely because he helped get Mariah Carey on board.. He’s been Mariah’s manager since the beginning and she’s probably the reason he was still here for this season. But it’s rumored that she fired him as her manager as well. Randy’s just getting the pink slip from everybody!
But it’s not only Randy who’s getting the Idol boot.. Everyone else is getting axed too.
Due to the exceptionally low ratings, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban will all be out with Randy at the end of this season. The official announcement will be made soon.
No word on who will grace the judging panel next year but lots of names have been thrown out there, ranging from Harry Connick Jr. to Justin Bieber to Kanye West.
