Mariah Carey brings fans ”Almost Home“ in the lead tune for Oz the Great and Powerful. Mariah pays homage to Dorothy by singing, “When you’re almost there/ And you’re almost home/ Just open up your eyes and go/ When you’re almost there/ Almost home/ Know you’re not alone/ You’re almost home.”
The song does the trick for the film flick purposes, but my only complaint is…where are the ruby slippers??? Let’s hope she’s got a pair on in the video for “Almost Home,” which drops on March 8, the same day the film hits theaters.
The music vid was directed by David LaChapelle (LaChapelle not Dave Chapelle). He also filmed the American Idol judge’s video for another movie tune and 2001′s “Glitter” track Loverboy.
Hmm…those credits don’t exactly give me a lot of hope… Well, as long as they get lots of shots of James Franco…it’s all good though.

The new season of American Idol premiered Wednesday night to less than impressive ratings.
Idol was hoping to have a big draw, considering they forked over $18mil for Mariah Carey and drummed up a never ending battle between her and Nicki Minaj. But people aren’t buying into this season.. Maybe it’s Nicki’s annoying voice or fake British accent or this overwhelming bickering between the two girls, but people aren’t tuning in and ratings for the first show were waayy down.
They averaged 17.9mil for the season premiere, which is 19% down from last year’s premiere. It was also an all-time low for the show, the lowest premiere since the first season. The premiere was actually beat out by a new episode of NCIS, which drew in 22.9 million viewers.
Now the ratings downfall isn’t really surprising, the numbers have been steadily dropping since season six in 2007, so was ok with turnout . A Fox exec said, “The numbers were exactly our expectations. Everything [on broadcast] is down, it could have been worse. It’s still standing very tall considering the competitiveness.”
The ratings from last night have not been revealed yet but the episode was filled with more of the same… all the focus was on Nicki and Mariah bickering but they shared a little of the spotlight with some of the contestants.

The premiere of American Idol season 12 kicked off last night and it was exactly what I was afraid it was going to be… a complete b***fest.
Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey started battling it out from the very beginning. They bickered over EVERYTHING, Nicki’s ridiculous drum major hat (Mariah whined, “We can have accessories? I didn’t know that was allowed … that’s all I’m gonna say.”), characters and references from Mean Girls, then there was lots of mumbling, eye rolling (especially when a contestant complimented Mariah)… and even a battle of the British accents.
Fortunately, the entire show wasn’t just about their stupid catfight, they did focus some on the contestants.
A few standout contestants included 18-year old Angela Miller who suffers from hearing loss but still managed to wow (and momentarily shut up) the judges, Frankie Ford, who perfected his skills while singing for change on the New York subway and Evan Ruggiero, a former dancer that lost his leg to cancer at just 19-years old.

Hold up! Nick Cannon and Kim Kardashian dated?? We vaguely recall such a thing. It took place back in 2006..before we were sold the idea that Keeping up with the Kardashians was something anyone actually wanted.
Nick and Kim’s romance was also not that memorable because it didn’t last long—four months—just long enough for Kim to get caught in one BIG lie…
Nick and Kim’s relationship came to a screeching stop when he asked her about some sort of ‘sex tape’ he was hearing about. She denied it’s very existence. Tape? What tape?
Nick recently said, “If she had been honest, then I might’ve kept her because she is a great girl but the fact that she lied….no way!”
Interestingly, when Kim was asked back in 2007 about Nick’s reaction to the sex tape scandal, she claimed it had nothing to do with it…and that they were ‘just friends.’

Q: You were linked to Nick Cannon around the time our issue came out. Did that kind of cool down? What’s the status of your relationship with him?
A: We were never really…we were always friends. He was someone who I enjoyed spending my time with, but we were never really a couple. And I think it fizzled out way before that even happened.
And while Nick was spilling the beans, he opened a can of worms too…revealing he broke up with Nicole Scherzinger to date Mariah Carey.
Dang! Nick really got around!

We found out who’s really buying all those Mariah Carey greatest hits albums—her husband Nick Cannon. This morning on Howard Stern, Nick confessed to playing Mariah’s music when she’s away…to well…ya’ know…have his way with himself. He especially enjoys “Hero.”
But, that was just a side note, Nick’s real reveal was sharing that the power couple listens to Mariah’s music while they do the deed—together too.
