According to her new blog post, Rosie O’Donnell is “happy to be alive” and she’d like to thank— Google, WebMD and Bayer’s Aspirin commercials—for making that possible. But, this was NOT a minor heart attack — her Lap was 99% blocked and the type of heart attack she suffered is dubbed ‘the Widow maker.’ Yikes!!!
Here is Rosie’s post:
“My Heart Attack”
its a semi-sunny monday
the light bouncing off the flat hudson
mish is sitting next to me
i am happy to be alive
last week i had a heart attack
here is what happened
The writer who made us blush in When Harry Met Sally; made us sob in Sleepless in Seattle; made online dating not seem creepy in You’ve Got Mail; and somehow made cooking look fun in Julie & Julia, has died. But, not before writing one last comedy…HER OWN MEMORIAL!
In a folder titled ‘Exit‘ Nora Ephron left specific instructions for her memorial service; including who would speak, in what order and for how long. Smart lady! The last thing Nora needed was Rosie O’Donnell (on her list) hogging up all the time! Especially, since she demanded that the entire thing was to take 47 minutes.
She didn’t go so far as to tell the speakers what to say about her, but she did make one thing perfectly clear…IT BETTER BE FUNNY!
Being the ‘foodie’ that she was—Nora’s 800 guests were greeted with a program guide that included one of her favorite recipes. They were greeted after the service with pink champagne, her favorite. Among the many stars who attended the service were Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart, Larry David, Steven Spielberg and Bette Midler.
Nora passed away on June 26 due to complications from leukemia. Only her husband and adult children knew the extent of her illness. To honor Nora’s wishes, we have compiled some of the funniest lines from her carefully selected speakers (most of which reference her own words):
The White House Correspondents Dinner is tomorrow night and some big name, respectful celebrities have been invited. George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis, Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel, Tony Romo, Josh Hutcherson all scored an invite to be there…. As well as Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan.
They didn’t get an actual invite themselves. They were both invited by the Fox News Channel and will be sharing a table together. Kim is bringing her mom Kris Jenner along, and Lindsay is bringing her rep and her lawyer, I guess in case she needs an immediate bail out.
Greta Van Susteren is the one who invited Lindsay. She said that the reason that she invited her is because she ‘loves comebacks and would like for her to succeed.’ She’s proud that Lindsay finally has a new movie coming out and says that things are finally looking up for her.
Rosie O’Donnell can’t say the same thing about Lindsay’s future though. She’s using her new gig on the Today Show panel to harp on Lindsay’s problems. Yesterday, she brought up Lindsay again and said that she doesn’t want her to suffer the same fate as Whitney Houston. Check it out!
Maybe Rosie O’Donnell was right about Lindsay Lohan after all. She recently went off when she found out that Linds secured the Elizabeth Taylor gig for her Lifetime movie biopic. She said that Lindsay isn’t responsible enough to work. She pointed out that she couldn’t complete her SNL duties without any drama. Well, Lindsay replied with some snide comments, then proved Rosie right. (See Lilo’s comments below.)
Lindsay filmed a small cameo for ‘Glee’ yesterday, but she showed up incredibly late…. probably because she was partying all night long at the Star magazine party at a Hollywood nightclub. Tisk, tisk.
The whole staff was ticked off at her for delaying the filming. Dot-Marie Jones, who plays Coach Beiste, tweeted about Lindsay’s late arrival, saying, “Gonna be a long day!! Some people show up late and just throw a wrench in things. Not cool! I’d rather be an hour early (I was) than 5 minutes late!” The tweet was later removed.
What do you think of Lindsay’s lack of work discipline? Watch her talk about Rosie below!
It was a bloodbath at OWN network yesterday.
First it was announced that Oprah axed Rosie O’Donnell’s show because of the lackluster ratings, but the firing spree didn’t stop there. They continued to clean house and got rid of another 30 employees. They say the layoffs are due to weak ratings and a poor financial performance, so new executives are stepping in as a final attempt to save the station.
